1 - Research

Project Background

The aim for this project is to improve the user experience and increase the market competitiveness of Data Pulse, a Sales Automation CRM SaaS platform.

Data Pulse has a strong focus on sales automation - helps businesses to streamline their sales processes through automation and data-driven insights.

This is done through understanding market trends, user behaviours and aligning the product design with business objectives.

Market Analysis

We analyzed competitor offerings, pricing models, and customer feedback to identify emerging trends in Sales Automation technology. This included features like AI-powered sales forecasting and real-time sales pipeline visibility.

Customer Journey Mapping

Mapped out the user journey from initial account setup to lead conversion and managing customer relationships. Identified pain points such as complex workflows, data entry redundancies, and lack of integration with other business tools.

Data entry redundancy in this case refers to the re-entering of contact information.

Having to re-enter contact information (e.g., email, phone number) when creating a new opportunity or case related to an existing customer.

Data redundancies can lead to several problems:

  • Inaccurate Data - Entering the same information multiple times increases the likelihood of errors and inconsistencies in the data.
  • Wasted Time - Users spend unnecessary time re-entering data, reducing productivity and increasing frustration.

Product Psychology

Applied principles and heuristics of product psychology to understand user motivations and behaviors. Explored concepts such as social proof, scarcity and reciprocity to enhance user engagement and adoption rates.

Here's a breakdown of how each concept can be applied:

Social Proof

Customer Testimonials and Case Studies - Highlighting success stories of businesses using Data Pulse to achieve specific goals will reinforce the value proposition and encourage others to adopt the software.

Scarcity

Limited-Time Offers or Free Trials - Offering limited-time discounts or extended free trials will create a sense of urgency and encourage users to sign up before the offer expires.

Reciprocity

Customizable Dashboards and Reports - Allow users to personalize their dashboards and reports with the metrics and information most relevant to their work.

Business Goals Alignment

Aligned research findings with Data Pulse' business objectives of increasing user acquisition, improving customer retention, and enhancing platform profitability.

  • Increased User Acquisition: Enhance the platform's user-friendliness and value proposition to attract more sales reps.
  • Improved User Retention: Create a seamless user experience that encourages continued platform usage by existing sales teams.
  • Enhanced Sales Performance: Drive higher sales conversion rates by streamlining workflows and providing actionable sales insights.

2 - Define

  • Customer Database - Store and manage all customer information in one place, eliminating data silos and redundancies.
    • Create individual contact profiles with detailed information (e.g., contact details, demographics, purchase history, communication preferences).
    • Organize contacts by company, industry, or custom tags for targeted communication and segmentation.

Sales Management

  • Automated Workflows and Reminders - Set up automated workflows for tasks like lead nurturing, follow-up emails, and renewal reminders, streamlining sales processes.

Minimized Cognitive Load

The IA minimizes the mental effort required to use Data Pulse. This is achieved through features like clear visual hierarchy, progressive disclosure of information, and consistent user interface (UI) patterns.

Benefits of a strong IA:

  • Improved Usability. A well-defined IA leads to a more intuitive and user-friendly experience for everyone interacting with Data Pulse.
  • Increased Efficiency. Users can find and use the features they need quickly, saving them valuable time and effort.

  • User engagement: How deeply users interact with the product (e.g., frequency of use, time spent using features).
  • Retention rates: The percentage of users who continue using the product over time.
  • Task completion times: How long it takes users to complete specific tasks within the product.

This will help result in increased user growth, higher user satisfaction, and enhanced market competitiveness.
